One more week off then on August 29th we start our weekly meetings. We have space for a few more members so if you are reading this and have been thinking of joining an art group now is the time! Please feel free to get in touch, we are a friendly lot and the cost of membership is less per night than the cost of a cup of tea - which is included in the price! Get in touch via this website or just call in one Thursday evening after 7.00pm.

Another excellent Leeds Art Walk last week Wakefield is the next Art Walk on the 31st of the monthHoliday time and everyone is taking photos to paint later. Still getting a good few members on our fortnightly meetings but could do with a few more. If you are reading this, live in South Leeds, Castleford, Wakefield or anywhere thereabouts and fancy joining us please get in touch. The ability to paint is not a pre-requisite, though a bit of enthusiasm helps!
Wednesday saw the wettest Wakefield Art Walk ever! Only one hardy sould from our group actually made it, almost swimming around the route at times. The art was very good with some video art and installation - type work on show for a change.
Leeds Art Walk next week - starting at Flannels on Vicar Lane at 5.30. (Later Note - Flannels exhibition on third floor features photos of the last days of Quarry Hill Flats by Peter Mitchell, well worth a look!) Because we meet less frequently during the summer and with people being on holiday the pictures in the galleries have not changed very much recently. Will try and rectify that as soon as we get more finished paintings to add. Next meeting is on June 6th - look forward to seeing everyone there! Tonight (25th April) sees the last of the spring term weekly meetings. From here on we meet fortnightly until September. Maybe we can also get out for an odd painting day or two over the summer, but only if the weather improves!
Don't turn up on the 2nd of May - we won't be there! We will be there on May 9th of course. Leeds Art Walk on the 1st May - starts at the Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery at Leeds University at 5.30pm for all those interested. We re-start tonight after the Easter break - looking forward to a full house! We still meet every Thursday until the end of April. Once we are into May we go to fortnightly meetings to allow people to take full advantage of the lighter, warm summer nights - wherever they are!! So meetings on 11th, 18th and 26th of April, then we meet on the 9th and 23th of May, 6th and 20th of June, 4th and 18th of July and 1st, 15th and 29th of August before recommencing weekly meetings in September. More pictures are added to the gallery on a regular basis so keep coming back for a look. Happy painting!!
Next week (21st March) is the last meeting before Easter, then we are off for two weeks before resuming on April 11th. Don't forget the Wakefield and Leeds Art Walks on March 27th and April 3rd respectively, also the special Leeds Art Walk on Sunday 17th March which looks excellent!
A traffic counter has been added to our home page today so the number of visitors is recorded. Not many but we still know that people are visiting.
More pictures have been added to the gallery. Please take a look. Some of the pictures might be for sale, if you particularly like one please get in touch.
I'm wondering about adding an exhibitions gallery where artists who are not members at Methley can submit temporary displays of their pictures, would this be of interest to anyone? Leeds Art Walk on Wednesday 6th March, look on their website for details. No meeting next week (Feb 21st) as there is a show at the church so our room will be in use
Three of us went on the Leeds Art Walk this evening to the Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery at the University followed by Leeds Art Gallery, Leeds College of Art and the newly opened &Model gallery on East Parade. Stanley and Audrey is always excellent and walking through the installation at the Art Gallery was an unusual and interesting experience. The highlight was &Model which featured some simple but very pleasant pictures - well worth a visit!
